Momchilovtsi

Momchilovtsi is an ethnographic enclave situated at an elevation of 1,100 meters 17 kilometers due east of the mountain resort town Pamporovo. The town is comprised predominately of 1960's era Rhodopean architecture with a surprisingly large concentration of guest houses and pensions. The town has effectively carved out a niche for itself as a major ethnographic center, offerings a wealth of tutorial programs year-round and especially during the summer. In the winter, Momchilovtsi is a popular base for Bulgarian families skiing at nearby Pamporovo as local prices are considerably more reasonable than those at the modern resort, which is geared toward foreign package tourists.
