About Bulgaria
General Info

Bulgaria combines on a relatively small area a great variety of natural resources: lots of mountains - from low and park-like ones, to high alpine typed - outnumbered rivers , as the biggest one - Danube - is a natural country border to the north. You can enjoy the numerous lakes,

most of which alpine and enchanting with their deep crystal waters. The Bulgarian Black Sea coast is hospitable and very diverse: to the north it is rocky and steep, and the sea has excavated many fantastic caves, while in the south the coast is sandy, with wide beaches and beautiful dunes.

Here you can try delicious samples of the local cuisine, such as the famous yoghurt, or banitza. Connoisseurs can visit the wine cellars throughout the country and try different types of wine on the spot. You can visit the yearly Rose festival in the Valley of the Roses and see how the rose oil is produced and even take an original sample of it, or you can go and see the incredible nestinari dancing on live coals.

Bulgaria is situated on a very busy crossroad of different cultures, each left its footprint in form of historical or archeological monuments. On the territory of the country can be found  many traces of the Thracian culture, represented mainly by superb samples of applied art (Panagyursko golden treasure, Rogozensko silver treasure, Valchitransko treasure), as well as by architecture monuments such as Kazanlak tomb, Sveshtari tomb, etc. There are also remains from Hellenic and Rome culture, as whole town complexes have been restored and can be visited (Trimontzium, Mesemvria, Apolonia, etc.). The Slavic and proto-Bulgarian people also have left their footprints on this land.

The folklore of the country is extremely distinctive - the music, dances and singing are very particular and are famous all over the world. Once you see or hear them, you will not forget them for sure.

In general, Bulgaria offers different opportunities for a vacation. You can go for rural tourism, staying in a folk-style house situated in small pretty villages amongst beautiful nature, having additional activities such as riding or climbing. If you love extreme sports you can enjoy paraplanerism, rafting, caving, diving or bungee jumping. For people who enjoy more lay-back vacations there are nice luxurious hotels on the seaside or in the mountain, with nice swimming pools and spa procedures. Whatever you choose, you will be charmed because, as many of the Bulgaria visitors say, the country is a real paradise with the great variety of opportunities and interesting sites it offers.
